a dial-in number will be provided for those members unable to
participate in person.
"Emerald
City" Networking Meeting
The CSIG will once again be participating in PMI's
Networking Reception on Monday, 23 October from 5:30 - 7 PM
in Ballroom 6ABCD. This year's
theme is the "Emerald City." This exciting event is
designed to allow PMI SIGs and Colleges to advertise and attract
new members. The Networking Reception is also a great opportunity
for CSIG members to meet and mingle. Be sure to stop
by the CSIG "booth" and meet the Board.
Leadership
Showcase
The CSIG Board will also have a booth at the Leadership Showcase
on Friday, 20 October from
11:45 AM - 1:15 PM in Ballroom 6 BC. Mohammad Iqbal, the
CSIG VP of Programs, will make a presentation on the CSIG Mentoring
Program during the Leadership Conference.
So, there
are multiple venues for CSIG members to meet and get to know one
another. If you're in Seattle, please take advantages of these
opportunities to link faces and names - a real treat for an international,
virtual organization!
Volunteers

Unlocking Project Team Potential: Balancing the Operational and
Behavioral
Presented
by Sid Henkin
Project teams
have two universal measures; 1) to satisfy the customer; and 2)
to deliver on time, on budget and on spec. We do a great job of
picking technically competent people with all the tried and true
project management skills, yet, 53% of projects fail to meet budget
and project requirements.
Project Managers
often believe that they are doing all the right things to create
a project team that will rapidly become high performing. Far too
often we are disappointed. Even when we eventually reach an acceptable
level of performance, we have gone through many peaks and valleys
that add too much cost to our projects. Worse yet, actions taken
to get project teams back on track do not address the real causes,
i.e. that projects are derailed because of behavioral rather than
technical issues.
How can project
managers resolve the behavioral gaps in team performance as unambiguously
as the technical gaps? Register
for this webinar.
LinkedIn
Consulting SIG Members
For
those of you who don't know about the business social networking
web site LinkedIn, we think it's something worth knowing about.
LinkedIn contains profiles of all its members and enables you to
be introduced through your own network to other peoples' networks.
In essence, your personal connections (which includes nearly 200
Consulting SIG members) could connect you to literally thousands
of business people! Here's
a link to check it out.

PMI®
New Jersey Chapter to Host
International Project Management Day
The
PMI New Jersey Chapter is sponsoring an
International
PM Day celebration on 2 November, 2006.
This event will celebrate project management while extending participants'
knowledge, skills, and personal networks.
Volunteers Needed
The Consulting SIG and New Jersey Chapter is looking for volunteers
to help setup a Consulting LIG
(Local Interest Group). The goal of the LIG would be to create
an opportunity for Consulting SIG members in the area to meet and
network with each other. Consultants learn early that having a strong
network allows them to get involved in projects that they cannot
handle by themselves. This would be a perfect opportunity to expand
your network and let other consultants know what you can do.
Please contact
Judy Balaban,
New Jersey Chapter LIG Director at 609-520-4386 or Frank
Parth, Consulting SIG Chair for more information.
If
you experience problems logging into the Consulting SIG web site,
please contact the Consulting
SIG Administrator at administrator@consultingsig.org
