Message
from the Chair
To all 2700+ members of the Consulting SIG:
Welcome
to our new monthly on-line bulletin, Connections.
This will serve as your source for what's going on in the SIG,
what's new, and provide updates on upcoming activities.
This is just
the first of several initiatives that your Board of Directors
is working on. Jeanne Carey, our past chair, and our past VP communications,
Jonathan Weitz, spent a great deal of effort last year rebuilding
our infrastructure so that we can provide services to our members.
Bill Craddock, our Co-Chair this year, did a significant amount
of work on our bylaws and brought them up to date and made them
consistent.
The challenge
for this year's board is to take advantage of the rebuilding that
went on last year and give you a SIG that will be useful to you
in your consulting practice. Current initiatives that your board
is working on include:
- A mentoring
initiative for our more experienced members to give advice and
support
- This monthly
newsletter, Connections
- A quarterly
newsletter with articles about consulting
- More webinars
- Addition
of consulting templates and tools to the web site
There are
also longer-term initiatives that we're talking about that will
provide even more benefit to our members.
All of this
requires input and support from you, our members. We have a volunteer
program in work to help coordinate these efforts with volunteers
who are willing to contribute. The work we need varies from just
a couple of hours per month, to larger initiatives that require
more time, to one-time support such as representing the SIG at
local or regional meetings.
Please send
an e-mail to chair@consultingsig.org
if you have any questions or would like to volunteer to help the
SIG grow and evolve.
Sincerely,
Frank Parth, PMP

SIG to Post Job Openings
If
you are an employer looking for project management consultants,

with your employment opportunity details.

Call for Best
Practices Templates
Our members
have told us that one of the benefits the SIG can provide are
"best practices" templates. We heard you and are collecting
templates that will be put on the SIG's web site for downloading.
But we need further input from you:
- What areas
do you want templates in?
- Job costing?
- Nondisclosure
agreements?
- Project
charter templates or WBS templates?
The best
templates will come from you! We encourage you to share what
you've used in the past that works. Put your name on it and we'll
share it with our worldwide members.
Submit
your templates now!
